I'm looking for colorists for projects - interested?
Short and sweet, primarily for print in magazine. But all the way I was thinking how they could also be animated in Flash, which would then take a campaign from print to web.
The figures were compact - small enough for print, simple enough to be match the basic animation of Flash.
The strips and the animations were done simultaneously, pulling scenes from the animation with a tweak here and there.
There were 4 cartoons, here they are compiled.
Now here's the thing: these were before social networks and email was how fun things were circulated. So the animations were small enough to be attached to emails (only about 25kb each) and at the end of the cartoon were links:
Of course, it's all different now...
The characters became popular so we continued to use them for other promo.
These were a huge revenue stream. Resort workers like a T-shirt to mark the end of the season, so we used the characters and replaced the resort name for each one.
The cartoons caught the eye of CancerResearchUK who wanted them for a campaign to raise awareness of how strong UVlight is at high altitudes (worth knowing: it's very strong).
The commission never took off but the recognition was nice.
